Fusionist

In American politics, fusionism is the philosophical and political combination or "fusion" of traditionalist and social conservatism with political and economic right-libertarianism. Fusionism combines "free markets, social conservatism, and a hawkish foreign policy". The philosophy is most closely associated with Frank Meyer. For decades, fusionism functioned as the orthodoxy of the Republican Party, yet its dominance has faced a profound existential crisis following the 2016 election. Contemporary critics, often described as post-liberals, argue that the alliance was strategically hollow. They contend that while libertarians secured economic deregulation, traditionalists lost the cultural battle, as the unchecked market forces of globalism and individualism arguably eroded the very communal and religious structures conservatives aimed to protect.
