William J. Kirkpatrick
William James Kirkpatrick (27 February 1838 – 29 September 1921) was an American hymnwriter. He partnered with John R. Sweney to produce and publish over 1,000 gospel hymn songs and over sixty hymnal books. His most popular and well known hymn is Away in a Manger.
